Center for Industrial Automation (FESTO)

Centre of Excellence in Industrial automation is a training center started in the year 2012 in collaboration with FESTO India Private Limited headquartered in Esslingen, Germany. This center is aimed to enable students to develop skills and solve complex technological problems. The lab is equipped with state of the art equipment’s which are used in many processing and manufacturing industries. The lab caters to the need of budding automation engineers by enabling them to learn Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Electropneumatics, Electrohydraulics and Programmable logic controllers.

Activities

  1. Value added course on skill development in Industrial automation is rolled out every year for UG students across disciplines. The course is split into Phase I (Basic level) which starts in odd Semester and Phase II (Advanced level) which starts in even semester.
  2. Train the trainer’s module for teachers
  3. Participation in skill competition in Mechatronics
  4. Internship at Republic Institute for Vocational education (RIPO), Minsk Belarus on Industrial Automation 4.0

Achievements

  1. Team of 4 students Harsh Ganatra (CSE), Siddarth Bhura (CSE), Reshav.Agarwal (CSE) And Parth Limbani (EEE) won the first place in competition in Pneumatics and Automation at Ramco Institute of Technology Rajapalayam, Tamilnadu on 2nd February, 2019
  2. Centre coordinator Dr. Manikandan.P, Assistant professor had been deputed as ‘Jury’ for Mechatronics skills in Regional skills south 2018, India skills 2019 & World skills India 2019 by National skill development corporation (NSDC), Government of India during April 2018 to May 2019.
  3. 17 students completed their internship at Republic Institute for Vocational education (RIPO), Minsk Belarus on Industrial Automation 4.0 during April 20, 2019 to May 21,2019
  4. Team of SoET – Mr Ashlay & Ms Michelle completed 3rd in Karnataka state skill competition conducted by NSDC, Govt of Karnataka and KSDC, Govt of Karnataka in the year 2020
  5. Mr Deepak Buldak – Robotics and Mechatronics student qualified as one among the top 20 contestants for Janatics skill competition.    

 

Objectives

    •     To meet the change in technology by upgrading the infrastructure based on the requirement.
    •     To develop Vocational and Skill development courses on Industrial Automation.
    •     To provide knowledge and hands-on experience to the student community on Industrial Automation.
    •     To prepare training courses for employees from different manufacturing and process industries.
    •     To participate in skill competitions with regards to Mechatronics and Robotics at the National and International Levels.
