BCom (Finance and Investment) programme is designed for students who wish to acquire advanced knowledge in Finance and Investment and prepares them for a career within the broad frame of the financial sector, including profiles related to Investment Banking, Financial Management, Equity and Debt Management, Commercial Banking, Insurance Underwriting, Risk Management, and Management Consulting. The programme’s curriculum is set at an ‘advanced’ level for finance and investment.
The programme equips students with the skills to undertake financial analysis and to create and comprehend investment strategies to navigate the intricate landscape of global finance and investments adeptly. It nurtures students with expertise in specific domains, such as stock market investment and trading, portfolio management, private equity, equity research, equity management, and alternative investments. Students become adept at making financial decisions as individuals, companies, or venture capital firms by using knowledge of Corporate Finance, Corporate Valuation, and Advanced Financial Modelling. Unique features of BCom (F&I) programme are:
Finance & Investment training tracks (Two Levels spread across two semesters) - Semester 1 - Foundation Level (Mandatory for all students); Semester 2 - Intermediate Level (Mandatory for all students). These tracks, led by industry practitioners, cover advanced topics in Quantitative Finance, Financial Modelling, Equity Research, Technical Analysis, and related areas, equipping students with skills to prepare for Global Finance and Investment certifications and enhance their internship opportunities.
In addition, students must complete the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI) Level I, II, and III. This professional certification ensures they receive comprehensive industry preparation and become eligible for Associate Membership (ACSI) of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment, facilitating entry into professional roles in investment advisory, wealth management, financial services operations, and risk management.
Furthermore, the programme has established a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia, to offer a Dual Degree Programme in Bachelor of Commerce (Major in Finance), providing BCom (Finance & Investment) students with valuable international academic exposure.
