The BCom (Applied Finance and Analytics) programme is designed with a dual focus on Finance and Analytics. This programme is specially designed to develop students' analytical skills and enable them to think critically when making financial decisions. The curriculum focuses on combining the knowledge of Finance, Economics, and Statistics using Machine Learning Algorithms. The students will be able to further boost their abilities in analysing financial data, given the backdrop of economic trends, and also build invaluable skills. Students learn advanced courses across finance, catering to careers in Corporate Finance, Mergers and Acquisitions, Business Valuation and Modelling, Investment Management, Risk Management, Financial Planning, Private Equity, Wealth Management, and Management Consulting. On the Analytics front, students will learn to code and handle complex data sets with algorithms. They’ll learn to use tools such as Python R, VBA, Power BI, SQL, and will develop skills to interpret and convert data into valuable insights and use them to create business strategies and drive business decisions. They will also learn a few courses pertaining to data science techniques, such as predictive modelling, optimization techniques, advanced statistics, and machine learning. In the end, students learn about visualization and presentation of insights. The course is systematically designed with capstone projects specifically to cater to analytics-based courses in various domains such as Retail Web and social media, Supply chain and logistics, Health care, Banking Insurance Finance and Accounting, and start-ups, where industry partners mentor and evaluate the projects along with faculty mentors. At the end of the programme, the student is ready to face the futuristic world with two powerful skill sets pertaining to a highly growing field of Finance and Analytics.
The Programme BCom(Applied Finance and Analytics Honours) is designed in line with the requirements of the National Education Policy (NEP) spanning across eight semesters comprising of Skill Enhancement Courses and Ability Enhancement Compulsory Courses, Internships and Project work and Value-Added Courses. Students who complete three years (six semesters) with the necessary credits may exit and be conferred the B.Com. (Applied Finance and Analytics) degree. Those who complete two years (four semesters) with the required credits and opt to exit will receive a UG Diploma in Accountancy and Taxation. Upon completion of one year (two semesters) with the prescribed credits, students may choose to exit the programme and will be awarded a Certificate.
BCom (Applied Finance and Analytics Honours)
The fourth year will focus on the advanced level of knowledge in the field of Applied Finance and Analytics. The students will have capstone project work in the final semester. The students who complete the fourth year/eighth semester and satisfy the minimum credit requirement as per NEP guidelines will be awarded with a BCom (Applied Finance and Analytics Honours) degree.
BCom (Applied Finance and Analytics with Research)
Students who secure 75% marks and above in the first six semesters and wish to undertake research at the undergraduate level can choose a research stream in the fourth year. They should do a research project or dissertation under the guidance of a faculty member of the
University. The research project/dissertation will be in the major discipline. The students who secure 160 credits including 12 credits from a research project/dissertation will be awarded the BCom (Applied Finance and Analytics Honours with Research) degree.
